Texas Homeschool PE Overview
Texas treats homeschools as private schools. There is no state notification, registration, or approval required. Parents have complete freedom to design their curriculum, including PE.
While PE is not legally mandated, Texas requires instruction in five subjects: reading, spelling, grammar, math, and good citizenship. Most families include physical education as part of a well-rounded curriculum, especially for college preparation and extracurricular eligibility.

UIL & Extracurricular Eligibility
Texas homeschool students can participate in UIL (University Interscholastic League) activities at their local public school under certain conditions. Having documented PE instruction strengthens eligibility claims and demonstrates athletic readiness.
For college sport, the NCAA Eligibility Center reviews a homeschooler's core courses, and PE is not one of them. Spatrian's transcript records the PE course for everything else that asks.
