California Homeschool PE Requirements
California offers multiple homeschool paths. PE is one of the branches of study a homeschool filing as a private school must offer, with no minute figure of its own, and proper documentation opens doors to sports eligibility and transcripts.

California Homeschool Options
California offers four paths to legal homeschooling:
- File a Private School Affidavit (PSA) — operate as your own private school
- Enroll in a Private School Satellite Program (PSP) — file under an umbrella school
- Use a credentialed private tutor
- Enroll in an independent study program through a public school/charter
Under the PSA path (most common), you have complete curriculum freedom. The one subject rule is the private school requirement to offer instruction in the "branches of study required to be taught in the public schools" (EC §§51210, 51220), and physical education is one of those branches. No minute figure applies to you: the 200- and 400-minute rules bind school districts, not private schools.

A growing number of states let families claim education savings account or scholarship funds back for physical education.
