New York IHIP Requirements
New York requires homeschool families to file an Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) with their local school district each year. PE must be explicitly listed as a subject area in the IHIP.
For grades 1–6, you need 900 instructional hours per year. For grades 7–12, you need 990 hours. Physical education must be included, and our registry holds 90 hours of PE a year at the secondary level. Those hours count toward your total, not on top of it.

NYC-Specific Notes
New York City families file with the NYC Department of Education's Office of Homeschooling rather than a local school board. The compulsory age extends to 17 in NYC. Requirements are otherwise identical to the rest of the state, but NYC reviewers tend to be more thorough in IHIP reviews.
