Franz Beckenbauer

Franz Beckenbauer changed how defenders play: as a sweeper he started attacks from the back with passes and long runs. They called him Der Kaiser, the Emperor. He captained West Germany to the 1974 World Cup, and won it again in 1990 as their coach.
